Candle FAQs

  • Vivian Rae Candles use the highest quality fragrance oil that is bought from reputable candle suppliers in the United States. All fragrance oils are also Phthalate-free.

  • Candles with cotton wicks: efficient candle burning means the flame is not flickering. You want a teardrop shaped and upright flame. Extinguish a candle if it smokes or if the flame is too high. These signs mean that the candle is not burning the correctly. Extinguish and let the candle cool, trim the wick to 1/4 inch and relight.

Candles with wood wicks: efficient candle burning means the flame is not flickering, steady and not jumping too high. Extinguish a candle if it smokes, the flame is very high or jumping/flickering. Let the candle cool then trim the wood wick to 1/8 inch before lighting again.

  • The mica powder dye is purchased from a highly reputable supplier. Their mica powders are used in candles and are cosmetic-grade, non-toxic, and safe to use indoors. The supplier's mica powders comply with the standards listed in FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for food contact.

**as a side note, the candle wax is not edible. I provided this information to relieve any questions about toxicity of mica powder.

  • YES! The crystals are acquired from a wonderful supplier in South Carolina. When I asked them this question, here was my answer:

"We have a wide variety of products and materials, so here’s the best and simplest explanation: Our stones and crystals can be found naturally around the world. For example, all our crystals and gemstones are “natural” with a few exceptions."

If you are curious as to which crystals fall into the exceptions, please feel free to reach out to me.

  • Our cotton wicks are HTP wicks which are a coreless, cotton flat braid wick with paper filament throughout. They are self-trimming and their complete combustion burning characteristics minimize mushrooming and soot.

We also carry candles with wood wicks. Our wood wicks are purchased by a reputable company in California.

  • Our candle lines differ as to what kind of wax is used. All candle labels list whether they are paraffin, paraffin/soy blend or paraffin beeswax blend.

*Do not leave your candle unattended and keep away from children and pets.

*Never burn a candle on or near flammable objects.

*Discontinue use when only ½” of wax remains in the bottom of the container. Do not move the candle while burning.
